Oompah-pah at its finest, the aroma of sizzling bratwurst and the cries of “prost” once again mark the arrival of Oktoberfest. Downtown Vision, Inc. is excited to host its third-annual Oktoberfest @ Art Walk, a benefit for Downtown’s signature event, First Wednesday Art Walk.
Hosted by Curtis Dvorak (former Jaxson de Ville mascot and now First Coast Living correspondent), make plans to grab a frosty stein and toast to great art, music and German culture, all wrapped into one fun-filled, extended Art Walk night (5 - 10 p.m.).
Prost! Grab your beer stein, and join us for our third-annual Oktoberfest @ Art Walk, hosted by former Jaxson de Ville mascot and current First Coast Living correspondent Curtis Dvorak. Kick off the night with the traditional tapping of the keg ceremony with Mayor Lenny Curry and Bold City Brewery. Enjoy a biergarten featuring German, seasonal and local brews, plus live oompah-pah music by Dan Witucki and Mein Heimatland Musikanten Band. Sink your teeth into German culinary arts from local restaurants and participate in crowd contests including beer-stein holding, hot-dog costume races and a sausage-eating contest presented by Hoptinger.
Celebrate the PBS Fall Arts Festival
with performances from "Black Pearl Sings" by the Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre and "La Cage Aux Folles" by Players by the Sea. Performances will be at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m., respectively, at the Main Stage in Hemming Park.
Features a kinderfest zone, food truck village and carnival zone.
Features two stages with live music, pumpkin painting, hay rolling, German shepherd meet-up, German-themed food, craft beer and more. Plus, enjoy more live oom-pah pah music by One Step Ahead of the Law Brass Band in front of The Jacksonville Landing.
Visit UNF student-in-residence Amanda Rosenblatt on the fifth floor. Check out “Project Atrium: Joelle Dietrick,” “Avery Lawrence: Live in Jacksonville” and new featured exhibition “Smoke and Mirrors.”
Enjoy a special menu featuring German-inspired items and drink specials including a cocktail named after The Contemporaries’ fashion show.
Welcomes Beth Campbell Letendre and her exhibit “Waves of Watercolor” and Raquel Tamayo Tripp’s “Places and Faces.”
Stop in between 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. to experience co-owners Christian Blaq and Will Neal’s amazing artistry and musical craftsmanship.
Visit the table at the corner of Laura and Adams streets for free first-aid kits, lip balm and hand sanitizer.
Enjoy backstage tours at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and browse through featured artwork by Francesco Salomoni. Enter to win tickets to an upcoming show.
Showcases UNF ArtSpace with featured exhibit “Tech Support,” presenting work by UNF Student Lab Technicians and local artist Dee Roberts with live music by Strangerwolf on Hogan Street.
Featuring more than half a dozen Oktoberfest brews all $4. Plus, enjoy local artists Riley Hendricks and Tommy.
Hosts Cigarfest with cigar and craft beer paring presented by in-house tobacconists.
Enjoy drinks all night while grooving to the sounds of the Duffy Bishop Band from 9 - 12 a.m.
Open from 5-10 p.m., enjoy Coney Island root beer floats (must be 21 to order) along with delectable new menu items. Plus, browse paintings by Mac Truque, Bronwen Chandler and Jason D. Marshall.
Enjoy a variety of Oktoberfest and seasonal beers. All drafts are $3 from 4-7 pm. Plus, listen to live music by Stephen Chopek, Digdog and All The Ocean.
Each month, Art Walk headquarters at Hemming Park hosts dozens of artists, seeking to show and sell their works. From jewelry to paintings and more, you’ll find a mix of unique, handmade items from both emerging and established artists.
